5 Largest Cruise Companies in the World

Without any introduction, let’s sail together with the largest cruise companies in the world, according to Insider Monkey.  Royal Caribbean Group ranks fifth on the list. The company is based in Miami, United States and can boast with a respectable market cap of $22.1 billion. Royal Caribbean offers its trips through its subsidiaries such as Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Pullmantur. According to Insider Monkey, in the year of 2017 the company had 23.9% of the global market share. In 2019, its reported revenue was $10.9 billion, and had total assets of $30 billion. As of March 1 2021, its shares fell by 0.7% after the company offered $1.5 billion in public shares. We have good news though, Royal Caribbean is about to restart its trips with the first fully-vaccinated cruise ship, called  Odyssey of the Seas, will be sailing in May. “Fully-vaccinated” means that every each of person will be vaccinated against COVID-19, both the guests and the staff. The ship’s itinerary comprises visiting the Rhodes Island and Greek Islands of Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini. The company’s shares have boosted by 14.27% for the last twelve months. Royal Caribbean is followed by Expedia Group Inc on the third spot. The company has a market cap of $23 billion. The firm runs the franchise travel agency Expedia Cruises. Earlier the company’s name was Expedia Cruise Ship Centers, and it is involved in selling cruise, land and air vacations. Nine thousand passengers were reported to book for Expedia Cruises and Princess Cruises, after the company promoted their restart in September, 2020. This resulted a considerable growth for travel industry, since cruisers are seeking accommodations for their passengers. The company’s shares have boosted  by 66.56% in the last twelve months. Carnival Corporation stands on the second spot. In 2017, Carnival Corporation had 44% of the total global market. As of 2019, the company reported to have total revenues of  $20.4 billion with gross cruise revenues amounting to $20.4 billion. As of November 2019, Carnival had total assets at value of $45 billion. The firm is most popular cruise company worldwide, having an amazing fleet portfolio, comprising AIDA, ultra-luxury ship Seabourne, Carnival Cruise Line,Holland America Line, Princess Cruises,  Cunard, Costa, and P&O Cruises.
